Soaps, Lotion Chain Stirs Up NoLIta

By Adrianne Pasquarelli | October 20, 2008

NoLIta is getting a fresh new fragrance—actually, a whole lot of them. Bath Junkie, which lets customers create soaps and lotions with their choice of fragrance, recently signed a 12-year lease for 1,100 square feet at 227 Mulberry St., between Prince and Spring streets. Asking rent was $120 a square foot.

The company, based in Fayetteville, Ark., has about 70 stores, but this will be its first New York shop.
“If your favorite color is green, but you like the smell of strawberries, they can make that for you,” says Gabe Whitman. Mr. Whitman, of Buchbinder & Warren Realty Group, and colleague William Abramson negotiated for the tenant.

Landlord Mulberry Associates was represented by SINVIN REALTY broker MAGNOLIA MARTIN. She explains that Bath Junkie will fit well in the tourist-heavy area. The company plans to open the store in November, in time for holiday gift-giving.
