Sinvin Leads Galleries in Return to SoHo Streets

July 22, 2009

Sinvin Realty, LLC announced that senior directors LASIA CASIL and DANIEL ALESANDRO, along with principal CHRISTOPHER OWLES, all of Sinvin Realty, completed a lease for Art Photo Expo Gallery of Miami for a 7,900 s/f SoHo outpost at 382 West Broadway.

Art Photo Expo Production and Concept Group, founded by Francois Trabelsi, has a mission to advance the industry of contemporary and fine art photography and further establish photographic artists through its exhibitions, fairs, retrospectives and galleries throughout major cities worldwide.

The group is highly acclaimed for its celebrity retrospectives such as the one this past December featuring supermodel Naomi Campbell and including works by many of the top photographers in the world, such as Gilles Bensimon, David LaChapelle, Steven Meisel, Ellen von Unwerth and Bruce Weber.
The 2009 retrospective, which will be on tour, will feature celebrity “Bad Boys” such as Jack Nicholson, Warren Beatty and Mick Jagger.

“We believe Art Photo Expo will make an exciting addition in keeping with the tradition of SoHo as a major destination for art galleries in Manhattan,” said Casil.

Art Photo Expo is widely known as one of the premier photographic art dealers in Miami and is one of the major exhibitors at the Art Basel Miami art fair each December.

This will be the gallery’s first New York location.

“It is interesting that the economic downturn has provided the opportunity for galleries, who in recent years were largely priced out of SoHo, to make a return to this neighborhood which itself has such a close connection to the artistic community,” said Alesandro.

Freestanding between Spring and Broome streets, and formerly occupied by shoe retailer Té Casan, 382 West Broadway is a dramatic triplex retail space with a unique 60-foot-wide façade and 14-foot-high ceilings.

The ground floor and lower level each are 3,450 square feet, and the space features a 1,000-square-foot mezzanine. Sinvin represented both the tenant and the landlord, 382 West Broadway LLC for the two-year lease.

The reported asking rent was about $180 for the ground floor.
