New Trendy Shoe Store Readies for SoHo Debut

By Elisabeth Butler | August 14, 2006

A new store is opening in SoHo to cater to fashionistas’ love for shoe shopping.

Yaron Kopel signed a 10-year lease for a 7,500-square-foot shop at 382 West Broadway between Spring and Broome streets. Mr. Kopel’s shop, name Té Casan, will feature limited collections from seven emerging shoe designers around the world. It is slated to open in November.

Té Casan will change its roster of designers often, and none of the collections will remain in the store longer than three years.

The shop’s SoHo location will put Té Casan in good company. Retailers Steve Madden and Camper already operate shoe stores nearby. The West Broadway address used to house style-maven Patricia Field’s store and more recently served as a pop-up retail location for coffee-company Illy.

“They not only have good traffic, it’s the right kind of traffic,” says Christopher Owles, managing director of Sinvin Realty Corp., the real estate company that represented both Té Casan and landlord 382 West Broadway in the deal.

Asking rent was about $200 per square foot for the ground floor.

Mr. Kopel declined to comment.
