Japanese hair salon to bow on Houston

The owners of Mirai Creations have inked a deal for their first location, an 850-square-foot location in the West Village.

The owners of a Japanese hair salon called Mirai Creations have signed a lease for their first location, which will open at 178 W. Houston St., between Bedford and Bleecker streets, in April. The 850-square-foot shop front is across Houston from a small park, and consists of 450 square feet on the ground floor and 400 square feet in the basement. The asking rent on the 10-year deal was $200 per square foot.

Steve Rappaport, the senior managing director at Sinvin Real Estate who represented the landlord, 348 East Realty, described the unit as “charming” and noted that the West Village location is well-trafficked but still has a neighborhood feel.

The hair salon, according to Hiroko Onishi from Nezu Properties, who represented the tenant in the negotiations, said that the salon will replace Liza Sherman Antiques, which had been in the space for two years.
