Home Designer Star Sets its CITE on Fashionable SoHo

May 10, 2006

CITE, one of SoHo’s most popular furniture home design stores, is relocating from 120 Wooster Street to 4,000 square feet of ground floor space and an equal amount of basement space at 131 Greene Street in SoHo.

CITE is a favorite with Queer Eye for the Straight Guy’s Fab Five, who visited the store in a recent show.

The new Greene Street space was formerly occupied by Coconut Company and is located across the street from Moss and Hugo Boss, and the sites of the new B&B Italia and Paul Smith stores.

Financial terms of the 10-year lease are not being disclosed, but the landlord had been asking $90 per square foot, according to Christopher Owles, managing director of Sinvin Realty Corp., and CITE’s representative in the transaction. Independent broker Cynthia Chapin and Jon Chodosh and Sarah Cassell of Chodosh Realty Services, Inc. represented the landlord.

“CITE has been in SoHo for 20 years, and wanted to stay in the neighborhood because of its numerous high-end furniture design stores,” said Owles.

“We were looking for the perfect showroom for our furniture,” said P.J. Casey, president of CITE. “Chris helped us find a space that makes our furniture look like jewels.”

The Greene Street space features windows in front and back, a rear skylight, 30 feet of frontage with two sets of double doors, 14-foot ceilings, hardwood floors, and tenant-controlled HVAC. The basement is accessible by both an interior staircase and a freight elevator.
