Amorino inks a lease for retail space on the corner of Eighth Avenue and West 18th Street.

France-based Amorino has just closed a sweet deal for a corner shopfront in Chelsea.

The seller of gelato and chocolates recently signed a 15-year deal for 1,100 square feet at 162 Eighth Ave., at West 18th Street. The deal, which includes an 800-square-foot basement, closed at the asking rent of $224 per square foot.

When it opens in the summer, the shop will become the second Manhattan outpost for 12-year-old Amorino, which currently operates a shop on University Place in the Village as well as nearly 100 outposts scattered across Europe.

The purveyor of sweets chose the Eighth Avenue corner for its strong commercial and residential foot traffic, said Matt Cohen, the Lansco Corp. broker who exclusively represents Amorino.

In addition, few ice cream parlors are located nearby, according to Steve Rappaport, the Sinvin Real Estate broker who represented landlord 162 Eighth Avenue.
