French Bakery From Little Italy Butters Up Tribeca

February 1, 2003

The authentic French patisserie from Italy, CeCi Cela, has signed a lease at 166 Chambers Street for its second location. Bruce Sinder, president of Sinvin Realty and the landlord’s representative in the transaction, said CeCi Cela signed a 10-year lease for 924 sq. ft. of space, plus the basement. The terms of the lease are undisclosed, but Sinvin had been asking $75 per sq. ft.

The original CeCi Cela bakery, at 55 Spring Street, is best known for its dainty fruit tarts, buttery brioches, and perfect pains au chocolat. The new location is located in the base of a two-building condominium development known as Greenwich Court, on a stretch of Chambers Street that is busy with neighborhood activity.

The company, the Comic Book Store, formerly occupied the space. Esther Lixenberg of Knickerbocker represented the tenant in the transaction.
