Sees it as “refreshing change” from current base on West 37th Street in the garment district; idea of walking to work helped seal the deal.

Fashion designer Erin Fetherston is heading downtown. Ms. Fetherston, a California native who founded her own label four years ago, recently signed a five-year deal for 2,600 square feet on the second and third floors of 225 W. Broadway, at White Street. Asking rent for the space, which will be used as an office and showroom, was $37 a square foot.

Ms. Fetherston, who had been based for three years in the heart of the garment center on West 37th Street, said the move south is a refreshing change, and allows her to walk to work. “I love the European flavor that TriBeCa has to offer,” she said.

She replaces the Bruce High Quality Foundation, an arts collective. STEVE RAPPAPORT and GIL WASSERMAN of Sinvin Real Estate represented the landlord, the Nur Ashki Jerrihi Community. KRISTIN McCANN and TRISHA JERRY, also of Sinvin, represented Ms. Fetherston.
