Another Gallery in West Chelsea

Further cementing West Chelsea’s reputation as a visual arts center, the 3-year-old ArtGate Gallery is leasing space in the neighborhood.

The business recently signed a 10-year deal for 2,000 square feet on the ground floor of 520 W. 27th St., between 10th and 11th avenues. Asking rent for the space, which includes a 700-square-foot mezzanine and a 1,500-square-foot backyard, was $72 a square foot.

“There are very few ground-floor retail properties for galleries,” said ROXANNE BETESH. She represented the landlord, NDSM Holdings, along with fellow Sinvin Real Estate broker CHRISTOPHER OWLES.

ArtGate is in the process of moving into the space, which formerly housed another gallery. The first show there is planned for January.

Earl Bateman of Rice & Associates negotiated for the tenant.
